The Capacity 4 Equity and Success (C4ES) is a project funded by the Alameda County Board of Supervisors and is designed to work with 15-20 small and emerging nonprofits, and community-based organizations (CBOs) in West Oakland (zip codes 94607, 94608, and 94612) to provide them with the opportunity to capacity build, grow, and expand their work in the community. C4ES intends to enhance the capacity levels of West Oakland organizations and providers through direct and indirect support which includes:
Professional Development: “Power Up” Training Series
Coaching and Technical Assistance: “Power Hour” Weekly Sessions
Access to a Community Enhancement Fund
The C4ES pilot project is designed to work with two cohorts of 15-20 community providers between June 2022- June 2024. The project may continue for two additional years (2026) based on feedback and demand from cohort participants and West Oakland community providers.
Community based service providers environment Scan
Exceptional Community Connections, LLC developed an environment scan of of community - based organizations (CBOs) in West Oakland. This scan provides a good picture of what the current CBO landscape is like in West Oakland, so as to understand the different types of organizations working with and for the community. For the purposes of this environmental scan, the area included was within the confines of the boundaries of Alameda County Board of Supervisor’s District 5 (zip codes 94607, 94608, and 94612). The environment scan matrix provides details about 92 West Oakland CBOs including, address, composition and size of their leadership and board of directors, annual budget, funding sources and other information.
